AR in warehouse operations
Distribution warehouses move parts from source to destination and hold inventory to meet demand. Handheld units with manual function keys slowed work, raised safety concerns, and added cost.
- Validated key warehouse operations with a smart glass solution.
- Deployed an AR-enabled Google Glass solution with an integrated ring scanner and enterprise-grade security.
- Ran production trials for key warehouse operations.
- Integrated with SAP ERP to process confirmations in real time as work is done.
- Built custom features, including a context-based keyboard and scanning engine, to simplify the user experience.
Outcome
- Improved data accuracy
- Productivity metrics being monitored
- Less long-term injury risk from holding a handheld unit all day
